A COACH WHO SHARES YOUR SPORT

YOUR RIDING HAS A PURPOSE.
YOUR GYM WORK SHOULD TOO.

Track sessions. Weekend adventures. A race you’ve circled on the calendar. Tell Andy what you’re working towards, and where strength training needs to fit alongside your time on the bike.

His own cycling experience informs the conversations and the coaching. You get a plan built around your needs, rather than having to work out the connection yourself.

01 / STRENGTH, BALANCE & STABILITY

BUILD YOUR
FOUNDATION.

Andy’s clients describe work on strength, core control, balance and single-leg movements. The exercises and progression depend on your experience, goals and the demands of your riding.

Chris came with a background in gym training for rugby. He wanted a cycling-specific approach and noticed that the single-leg work helped his balance.

02 / A PLAN FOR YOUR SEASON

SEE THE
BIGGER PICTURE.

Strength sessions sit alongside the rest of your training. Talk with Andy about your riding schedule, upcoming events and where you want to improve.

For Ebony, the focus was building strength and speed ahead of track season. Ken wanted more structure after feeling he had reached a plateau. Both valued having someone who understood their sport.

If you already work with a cycling coach, bring that plan to the conversation so the role of gym training is clear.

GOOD TO KNOW

A FEW
ANSWERS.

Is this for track cyclists or road cyclists?

Andy’s client interviews include both track and road cycling goals. Tell him about your discipline and what you’re preparing for so he can discuss a suitable approach.

Do I need experience with weights?

No. Ken came looking for structure after only dabbling in gym-based strength work. Your experience is part of choosing the right starting point.

Can I train for a particular event?

Yes—bring your event goals and timing to the initial conversation. Andy can explain how his strength coaching and any season-planning support could fit your preparation.

How many gym sessions should I do?

That depends on your riding, experience, goals and time. Discuss it with Andy rather than trying to copy another cyclist’s schedule.

Where is the coaching based, and what does it cost?

Andy trains clients at Apollo Fitness in Christchurch. Contact him for current session pricing, availability and any gym access requirements.
